The Be Impact Initiative provides participating companies with tools and Workshop Series to benchmark, express and improve their triple-bottom-line impact (people, profit, planet). Through this program, our region is encouraging the triple-bottom-line business philosophy, so that one day, companies thrive not only to be the best, but also to attract the best for workers, and improve communities and the environment.

The Be Impact process

Be Impact offers businesses tools to benchmark, express and improve their triple bottom line impact (People, Planet, Profit) through B Lab’s Quick Impact Assessment (QIA) and B Impact Assessment (BIA).
  • Step 1: Get a Baseline — Assess how your company performs against dozens of best practices on employee, community, and environmental impact
  • Step 2: Compare Your Impact — See how your company stacks up against thousands of other businesses through the Quick Impact Snapshot.
  • Step 3: Improve Your Impact — Create a plan to improve your business’s practices, and help your staff implement them quickly with our best practice guides and examples.

“I joined the group because it provides me with a working platform to start building my sustainability business. It also helps me think through some issues such as governance, supplier diversity, company operations, ownership, banking and use of recyclables in my business, which I don’t think other incubators/cohorts provide. The QIA and BIA tools are free for entrepreneurs to use along with valuable advice that entrepreneurs can get from Be Green Hub and other cohort members. I am also hopeful the cohort will assist with getting me in front of the city of Bethesda to run my pilot program and potential investor.”
